I love to help authors build their stories. As someone with a ridiculous plot bunny colony, I know how hard it can be to focus on your story and keep everything together. World building can take over or become muddled, and characters can go through personality changes when our moods shift as authors.
And while we, as authors, focus on all those gritty details, we can sometimes lose our own voice, forget show v tell rules, and oversaturate our writing with weaker words and passive voice.
My goal as an analytical beta reader is to give you a thorough read-through of your work and provide you detailed feedback in several areas as well as focus on any questions or concerns you may have. Strengthening your story is my top priority.

What I will not read:
- Sexual content related to minors in which gratuitous acts are depicted as forgivable or romantic.
- Fan Fiction.
- Poetry.
- Non-Fiction
- BLATANT Political Allegory.
- Racist, Prejudice, or Hateful Rhetoric towards ANY race, religion, gender, or culture.
- Anything written in a language other than English. (I apologize but translations tend to lose meaning and I am only fluent in English).
What you will get:
I will read through your manuscript, taking notes and highlighting as I go. When I’ve completed reading, I will write you a 2-3 page review.
This will include:
This will include:
- What my review of the book would be if I had made a purchase. (This includes my star rating).
- My overall thoughts on the manuscript.
- My bucket of questions. These are to help you expand upon things within your story and are not meant as critique in anyway. These are opportunities to expand.
- A list of unclear imagery or descriptions.
- A breakdown of:
- Plot
- Pacing
- Character Development
- Romance (if any)
- Resolution of the story
- Your narrative voice
- Show vs Tell quality
- Sensitivity Issues (Specifically relating to topics that I have knowledge in or experience with)
- Final thoughts in a digital recording. (This can be helpful for some authors because text is interpretive to the person reading. It can also help with areas where I feel you need to hear something out loud).
How It Works:
Fill out the form at the bottom of this page.
Once the form is complete, I will email you with a final quote and my reading agreement. If you’ve requested an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement), it will also be attached.
When everything is signed, I will email you an invoice to be paid (with payment arrangements) and a link to your client portal.
You can check the status of your work and see a glimpse at my schedule to know when I will be starting your work.
Once I've started, it will take 3-7 days to be completed. Larger word counts take longer and shorter word counts can get done faster. I will provide you with an estimated date of completion.
I work on your Beta Read Analysis in 3 steps.
You are free to come back and ask me questions at any time or have me clarify something that may have been confusing.

I work on your Beta Read Analysis in 3 steps.
- First pass is my read pass. I will read through it and highlight points to come back to if I catch them.
- Second pass is where I start to take notes on all the things that have stood out to me and highlight notes for voice recording.
- Third pass is where I ensure my questions or concerns do not get answered in a later segment, record my final thoughts, and put together my final review.
- Your manuscript with beta notations.
- A 2-3 page analytical summary which will include a review as I would post online, a list of questions not addressed, and light suggestions for strengthening the story.
- A transcript with link to a voice file where you can access the verbal review of highlighted portions of your work.
You are free to come back and ask me questions at any time or have me clarify something that may have been confusing.

About the NDA:
I use an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) with authors that do not wish for me to discuss their work or place their work in my portfolio. By signing an NDA, you are requesting that I do not talk about your work, even after it is published. While this is uncommon, the option is available to you.
Documents Provided To You:
Documents you will receive over the course of working together. You can click on the documents below to see samples.
Social Media Sharing:
On your contract, you will have a place to indicate your preference in relation to my social media sharing. If you wish for me not to share anything about your work ever, please request an NDA. If you wish for me to not share anything until after publications, be sure to check the box on your contract and provide the publication date.
If you do not check the box or provide a date, I will assume I am safe to mention your work on my social media.
I will NEVER spoil plot or character growth. My intention is only to point out small things that interest me or give me pause for thought, as well as to promote your manuscript carefully and respectfully.
