More than 30 years ago, the world was crushed by natural disasters just before a black mist, sparking with red, killed millions and forever changed the fabric of human DNA. Some gained the powers of insight, others the ability to manipulate the tainted energy in their bodies for offensive attacks, and some became monsters from horror flicks.

Torn by their divisions, fae and para must relearn what it means to be 2 halves to the whole human race while facing off against monsters that pour out from tears in the sky. However, the monsters aren't the only threat to peace around this broken world.

Seiji "Sage" Ito has achieved his goal, side by side with his two academy friends. Fifteen years after his father's death on the job, Sage and his friends have joined District 4's Kiba-9, military police charged with protecting the district and enforcing the laws of a changed world.

Standing among the squad his father left behind, Sage can't help feeling elated and nervous. Especially with his father's former pair, Sawyer Dixon, now his. However, Dixon doesn't share Sage's enthusiasm and the cold air stuck between them threatens their working and personal relationship.

Less than a month into the job and a string of violent attacks on couples is showing an alarming pattern. A new drug has been discovered, tied to illegal para fighting rings, and new bills meant to dehumanize para are starting to become law.

With tensions building among citizens, tears opening all over the city, and terrorist groups hellbent on disrupting peace, District 4 has need for Sage and his friends now more than ever.

Can Sage and Dixon get along and make the most of their pair or is something else below the surface going to burst free and destroy them before they ever truly begin?
